Newfoundland Is On A Whole New Reopening Level & That Includes Cineplex

Gyms also made the cut.

Canada's provinces are moving forward in reopening at different rates. Some are taking it slow, while others are rocketing forward. Newfoundland's reopening plan, for example, is on a whole other level, one that includes gyms and theatres.

The province announced in a June 24 public advisory that it would be entering Alert Level 2, allowing even more restrictions to be lifted and more businesses to open their doors.

According to the advisory, that includes indoor entertainment facilities. Movie theatres, in other words.

While that means that Cineplex could open all of its doors in the province right now, it will still be sticking with its current plan of reopening locations across the country where they are allowed to do so on July 3.

However, the Newfoundland Rec Room location in Avalon Mall will be opening one day earlier on July 2.

When Cineplex theatres do open in the province, they will be following the company's prescribed health and safety guidelines, including reserved seating and increased cleaning and sanitizing.

The province will also be allowing gyms, fitness facilities, dance studios, and yoga classes to open as well.

Bars and lounges can also operate at reduced capacity, but there will be no dancing and no karaoke at this time.

Arenas and indoor pools are also now allowed to open, providing that attendees can adequately social distance and that there are fewer than 50 people at a time.

Newfoundland will also be part of the newly proposed Atlantic bubble. This agreement between the Eastern provinces will allow their citizens to travel freely without the need to self-isolate.

The province saw its last new case of COVID-19 on May 28, and it currently does not have any active cases.

On the other side of the country, British Columbia is moving into its third phase of reopening. Cineplex has announced they'll be opening there on July 3 as well, according to CTV News.
