CBSA is still hiring Student Border Services Officers and the pay goes up to $38 an hour
The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) is still hiring students to work as Border Services Officers.
With these high-paying jobs, you can make up to $38 an hour!
Canada's federal law enforcement agency is looking ot hire more than 200 students to staff these CBSA jobs.
Positions are located in Vancouver, Victoria, Kelowna, Richmond, Abbotsford, Sidney, Prince Rupert, Whitehorse, Regina, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Toronto, Mississauga, Hamilton, Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec City, Dorval, Halifax, and St. John's.
Student Border Services Officer positions are part of the Federal Student Work Experience Program.
You'll work with Border Services Officers to help protect Canada's border, economy, national security and public safety.
Duties of Student Border Services Officers include:
- serving and educating the public
- interviewing travellers
- examining documents
- verifying declarations and goods
- referring travellers and goods for further examination
These are full-time positions, and you'll work from the end of April 2026 until the beginning of September 2026.
You can make between $17.75 and $38.38 an hour as a Student Border Services Officer.
To be eligible for a Student Border Services Officer job, you must be:
- a full-time student in a post-secondary accredited academic institution
- a full-time student during the entire hiring process in the fall 2025 and winter 2026 academic terms
- returning to full-time post-secondary school in September 2026
- at least 18 years old when training starts in April 2026
Preference will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, but you can still apply if you're eligible to work in Canada and are not a citizen or permanent resident.
You must be able to obtain a "secret" security clearance.
Depending on the work location, you may need a valid unrestricted driver's license, Restricted Area Identity Card or Port Pass.
If you get hired, you will have to successfully complete the paid five-week Student Border Services Officer training that starts at the end of April in 2026.
Then, once you start working, you must be able to carry and use CBSA-issued defensive equipment (like handcuffs, oleoresin capsicum spray, and a baton) and wear a uniform.
You also have to work various shifts (including weekends and holidays) and work overtime as required.
