A man from Ajax cashed in on his beginner's luck with the Ontario lottery and has a big cheque to prove it.

Rhys Welch won $100,000 his first time playing Daily Keno 9 Pick in the May 13, 2021 midday draw.

Welch said to OLG, "A friend from work told me to try it out, so I randomly selected these numbers and I won!"

The 29-year-old couldn't even believe the news was true, according to OLG. "I just kept saying this didn't happen and kept checking my email."

The father of one plans to use some of the money for his daughter's education and take a vacation.

An Ontario lottery winner just scored a major prize, but this isn't his first time winning. For 77-year-old Hamilton resident, Robert MacDonald, this is the second time in less than a year that he's won some serious cash.

According to OLG, MacDonald earned $100,000 after matching the last six of seven Encore numbers in exact order for a Lottario draw on July 10, 2021. Just nine months before this, in October 2020, MacDonald won $50,000 in an Ontario 49 draw.
