Ontario Doctor Says Green Zone Residents Shouldn't Be Seeing Friends Or Travelling

You shouldn't be partying.
Contributing Writer

A local doctor is warning residents not to party with friends or travel as three regions moved into Ontario's green zone this week.

Dr. Robert Cushman, medical officer of health for Renfrew County and District Health Unit, begged residents to stay at home when possible via YouTube on Tuesday.

This is no time for partying, not at all. Please, please, please, because we can blow this.  Dr. Robert Cushman

Cushman stated that while residents are now allowed to get a haircut and go to a restaurant or bar, that doesn't mean you should be expanding your social circle.

In fact, the doctor stated that you should still only be seeing your domestic household.

"We can ruin it on a weekend and we’ll pay for it later. If need be we’re going to have to do a U-turn and go back into a lockdown," he said.

Cushman also advised residents against travelling or inviting friends or family who live outside Renfrew County to visit.

The region was one of the few to switch to the green level of Ontario's colour-coded system on Wednesday.

Despite the stay-at-home order no longer being in effect in certain regions, the Ontario government still recommends limiting contact.

Public health guidelines include avoiding social gatherings and non-essential travel.
