Toronto Malls Will Let You Reserve A Time Slot To Holiday Shop For The First Time Ever

And visits with Santa will happen through a "magic mirror."
Contributor

Christmas shopping, like many other things this year, will look a little different at Toronto malls this holiday season.

At Yorkdale Mall, Square One Shopping Centre, and Scarborough Town Centre, a number of changes have been implemented that will change your shopping experience.

First and foremost, you will be able to look at parking and shopping time availability ahead of time with their in-centre mapping tool.*

You can also find out about wait times while you shop — all you have to do is scan a QR code at the front of the store and it will notify you of your approximate wait time.*

The malls will begin extended holiday hours on November 27, which will see the malls open till 8 p.m. most evenings.

They are also keeping their festive decorations, but visits with Saint Nick will be done through "Santa's Magic Mirror," which is a virtual experience.

Shoppers are encouraged to use curbside pick-up, order take-out if they are looking for food options, and check wait times before shopping, says Bradley Jones, head of retail at Oxford Properties, the parent company of the three malls.

Just because this year's shopping will look a little different, doesn't mean you can't still get all your items crossed off your list!
