Police are asking for the public's help in locating a dangerous criminal who was accidentally set free.

Toronto police reported that a man had appeared in court on July 16 to answer for criminal charges.*

Several of the charges were allegedly stayed in court and the suspect was released.

A man appeared in court to answer to criminal charges. He was released from the holding facility in error.

However, the accused was supposed to remain in custody to answer to other unrelated charges. 

The man, 24-year-old Michael Berhane, is described as "violent and dangerous." 

Berhane has an Ontario-wide warrant and is wanted for 12 criminal charges.

Those include possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon, and unauthorized possession of a firearm.

Police are asking residents not to approach Berhane if they see him and to call 911 immediately.
