"The majority of those charges were under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act for failing to comply with an order ($750 ticket). And they would relate to people attending gatherings," a police spokesperson told Narcity.

The penalties come as the latest in a long string of charges police issued this month under Ontario's stay-at-home order.

A special enforcement team was recently launched to crack down on illegal indoor gatherings laying 230 charges in its first week.
