An entire intersection was blocked off this weekend as a massive group of Toronto stunt drivers gathered together. Toronto Police have launched an investigation after the road was shut down to allow drivers to perform stunts. Police cars were also attacked when they arrived on the scene.

Video footage of the event has been posted to social media and shows the large group of people who gathered around the cars that were doing donuts.

One video shows officers pulling up in a cruiser attempting to break up the illegal rally only to be surrounded by a mob.

Officers arrived on the scene at around 2.30 a.m. on September 12 in the Meadowvale Road and Zoo Road area.

Toronto Police told Narcity that when they arrived "the crowd became hostile, and people began attacking the police vehicles."

"At least one vehicle was damaged as a result. Officers attending requested further backup when additional officers arrived, the crowd dispersed.”

According to TPS, an ongoing investigation into the reported stunt driving and resulting damages have been launched.

“Footage of the incident has been recovered by investigators, and they are working to identify those involved. This is an active investigation,” the statement added.

The original video that was posted to YouTube has since been removed, but multiple others have been posted to Twitter of the incident since then.

This isn't the first time that stunt drivers have caused an issue in the GTA.

Back in May, a group was caught ringing in Victoria’s Day weekend by taking over an intersection.

Hundreds of cars could be seen gathered in the area of Dixon Road and Carlingview Drive in Etobicoke as drivers ripped donuts and lit off fireworks.

Parking lot parties have also been recorded in Brampton, where dozens have gathered together.
