Toronto's Heatwave Will Be Hotter Than Mexico City Today

Don't forget your sunscreen!
Contributing Writer

It’s going to be a sweaty Monday in the 6ix. Toronto's weather forecast is calling for sweltering heat throughout the day. In fact, the temperatures throughout the city will be so hot, that Mexico City will actually be cooler.

This morning’s comfortable temperatures shouldn’t fool residents as daytime highs are forecasted to peak at 30 C later in the day.

So, if you’ve got any ice cream bars saved for special occasions, now is the time to pull them out.

According to The Weather Network, Monday morning will be clear skies and reasonable temperatures before descending into chaos with sweltering heat and a chance for thunderstorms.

A heat warning has already been put in effect for the 6ix as temperatures are supposed to feel like 39 C.

“A very warm airmass will continue to affect the Golden Horseshoe today. Maximum daytime temperatures near 31 degrees Celsius with humidex values near 38 or 39 are expected,” reads a statement from Environment Canada.

It is going to be so hot in Toronto today, that the northern city is even giving Mexico City a run for its money.

Currently, the southern spot is at 16 C, with a high of 24 C throughout the day.

The sticky start to the week marks the second time in two days that Toronto has beat out tropical locations for the heat.

Last weekend, the GTA clocked temperatures as high as 30 C beating out Cancun for best patio temperatures.

However, we won't have to endure the heat for long.

According to Environment Canada, temperatures will be cooler on Tuesday thanks to a cold front that will be moving through.
