Toronto Is Facing Another Heatwave Today & It’s Going To Bring Severe Thunderstorms

More nasty weather is headed to the GTA.
Contributing Writer

It is going to be hot, hot, hot in the 6ix today. Another heatwave is expected to scorch through the GTA on August 10. Toronto's weather forecast will also bring severe thunderstorm warnings throughout the week.

According to The Weather Network, temperatures will feel close to 40 C in Toronto on Monday, thanks to an intense bout of heat and humidity.

So, unless you like melting on the sidewalk during your morning jog, you might want to spend today glued to your air conditioner.

A heat warning was issued for the city on Monday morning, cautioning residents of deteriorating air quality and high-risk heat levels.

“A heat event is expected from today into Tuesday. Maximum temperatures today are expected to reach between 30 and 32 degrees Celsius with Humidex values near 41. Minimum overnight temperatures will be between 20 and 23 degrees Celsius,” read a report from Environment Canada.

“A slightly cooler and less humid air mass will arrive in the area late on Tuesday. Hot and humid air can also bring deteriorating air quality and can result in the Air Quality Health Index to approach the high-risk category,” it adds.

Humidity isn’t only the number one cause of mugginess, it is also great at creating thunderstorms.

Ontario is expected to be hit by some nasty weather this week with strong winds, torrential downpours, and hail expected in some regions.

However, the GTA is forecasted to dodge much of nastiness on Monday.

Tuesday will be a different story with Toronto sitting right in the designated sweet spot for thunderstorms.

The summer of 2020 has been a season of heat warnings for Toronto.

The extremely muggy conditions have brought on tons of stormy weather for the city.

The 6ix has even faced several Tornado warnings over the last couple of weeks.
