All aboard! If you're looking for a high-paying job in Toronto that doesn't require a degree-level education, this could be the perfect role for you! VIA Rail is currently hiring stock checkers in the city, and you can earn over $30 an hour with just a high school diploma.

As a VIA Rail stock checker, you'll be responsible for making sure trains are always prepped and ready to roll. That means preparing food, drinks, equipment, and linens, delivering supplies to the trains, and removing used items after trips.

You'll also reconcile inventory to make sure everything's accounted for, and you might even get to drive a tow tractor. It's a hands-on job that plays a big part in keeping VIA Rail's operations running smoothly.

This is an on-call position, so flexibility is key. You'll need to be available for a mix of day, afternoon, and night shifts, with night shifts being a required part of the schedule. Shifts are 10 hours long, and while you're guaranteed a minimum of 20 hours per week, there's potential to work up to 40 hours.

What's more, VIA Rail promises that this role will enable candidates to put their skills, customer orientation and environmental responsibility "to full use."

The ideal candidate will have at least two years of warehouse experience, be capable of heavy lifting, and hold a valid G driver's licence. You'll also need a high school diploma to apply. Bilingualism is a bonus but not a dealbreaker. In return, VIA Rail promises a competitive salary and benefits package, all within a safe work environment.

The job is based at the Toronto Maintenance Centre in Etobicoke or Union Station, making it a great option for people living in Toronto or nearby areas.

There are five positions available, and applications are open until December 27, 2024.
