You Can Get Free Jamaican Patties From A Toronto Restaurant This Week & Here's How
There's also a chance to win a free trip to Jamaica!

A Jamaican patty in a bag. Right: Freshly baked Jamaican patties.
Does free food sound like music to your ears? Well, listen to this lullaby because later this week, you can grab a free Jamaican patty from one of Toronto's best spots.
The best part about the free food deal is that there's no catch — it's just a perk you won't want to miss out on.
Jamaican Patty Day is on February 23, and to celebrate, the Jamaica Tourist Board, alongside Patties Express, will be handing out free Jamaican patties for a limited time.
From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. this Friday, you can head to the pop-up in Union Station to get your hands on a delicious and free meal celebrating Jamaican Patty Day. So all you have to do is show up.
According to the Jamaica Tourist Board, the famous day came to life in 1985, when "the infamous 'Patty Wars' took over Toronto streets when local authorities decided the city's Jamaican patty vendors could no longer use the term 'beef patties' to describe their offerings."
"Following a series of heated negotiations, the patty vendors prevailed in a ruling on February 23 and the day has been known henceforth as Jamaican Patty Day in Toronto."
I tried three of the top Jamaican patty joints in Toronto and ranked Patties Express as my favourite — it was the perfect balance between soft, crunchy, meaty and flavourful. So, if you haven't tried them yet, this is your chance to taste them for free!
The Jamaica Tourist Board is also having a free online contest where you can win a trip to the breathtakingly beautiful country.
The tourism board is giving away a trip for two to Kingston, Jamaica, in partnership with Flair Airlines and the Spanish Court Hotel. The winner will receive round-trip flights from Toronto and a two-night stay at the four-star hotel.
So, if you've been looking for a cheap getaway, make sure to enter the contest before it closes on Sunday, February 25.
