You’ll feel like a stowaway on a cargo train when you stay the night in one of these boxcars on a lake in Georgia

The Kampgrounds of America Site at Lake Oconee has old railroad cabooses that you can rent for your stay.

The campground is home to 13 authentic boxcars, cabooses, and club cars that have been transformed into hotel rooms.

They are fully renovated inside, with space for one or two beds, a futon, a partial kitchen, and a full bathroom with a shower — so you won’t be living completely like a stowaway.

The boxcars are located lakeside at the campground so you’ll have a beautiful view of Lake Oconee right out your window.

You can even drive up to the campground on a boat and dock it for the night to stay in one of the boxcars.

The 55-acre campground also has a sandy lakeside beach and 2 swimming pools that visitors can use between June and November.

Lake Oconee is located just over an hour outside of Atlanta, so this boxcar stay is the perfect one-of-a-kind weekend trip.
