Albertans can kiss their playoff dreams goodbye. On Thursday, August 20, the Calgary Flames suffered a 7-3 loss against the Dallas Stars, resulting in them getting booted out of the playoffs. In the midst of the loss, Matthew Tkachuk's reaction really said it all.

Thursday night's game against Dallas was a must-win for the Flames if they wanted to advance to the next round.

Though the Flames were able to score three goals in the first period, they shortly blew their lead and then some, according to the NHL

At the end of the second period, Dallas managed to hit them back with six goals, and then they scored another in the third period to add insult to injury. The final score was 7-3 in favour of the Dallas Stars, who will move forward to the next round.

Tkachuk's first hissy fit was spotted when Flames tried to get one back in the powerplay. He wasn't playing as he's currently out with an injury.

They were already down by six goals and when they missed a shot, Tkachuk shook his head and walked away, tossing his hat to the side.

But that wasn't the only little tantrum caught on camera. When Dallas scored their seventh goal in the third period, the Calgary leftwinger just covered his eyes with his hands and sunk lower in his seat.

Honestly, that was probably all Flames fans last night.

The 22-year-old player has been out with a concussion since Game 3. The team coach Geoff Ward had hinted that Tkachuk's inclusion in the line-up on Thursday night would be a last-minute decision, according to NHL

He was ultimately not included and therefore had to watch the tragic game from the sidelines.

Following the loss, captain Mark Giordano said, "It's a tough one right now because you go back game by game in the series and we had a lot of opportunity and we couldn't get it done, so tough to swallow right now."

Whereas Calgary forward Mikael Backlund said, "It's still just happened. Personally, I just feel empty. You wonder what happened, things just turned so quickly."

Ouch.

The Flames' exit out of the competition means both Alberta teams are out. So much for the Battle of Alberta.
