A video emerged on Wednesday, February 10, that showed a large group of people gathered around a table at an Earls restaurant in Edmonton.

In an email sent to Narcity, Mark Hladik, chief restaurant officer of Earls Restaurants, said restaurant management is "deeply concerned by a video shared on social media showing a group gathered together at our Edmonton Crossroads location on the evening of February 9."

"Earls can confirm that a group of guests did indeed gather at one table for a brief period, after initially being seated separately in accordance with health guidelines," Hladik continued.

He said that the group was asked to separate by a server and apparently they complied.

An investigation has been opened and the company "will be taking steps with staff involved."

Alberta has just eased some health restrictions to re-open dine-in services at restaurants as of Monday, February 8.

While people can visit restaurants, they must only dine with members of their households or their two close contacts if they live alone.

"We will also be re-communicating to all locations our strict adherence to public health guidelines," the statement concluded.
