With curfews, stay-at-home orders and other lockdowns in place across Canada, COVID-19 benefits might be more necessary than ever for some.

In a series of tweets, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made sure to remind Canadians of all the support they can access and even explained the eligibility for each one.

"With cases rising across the country, and lockdowns happening in several places, I want to be clear: we’re going to continue doing whatever it takes, for as long as it takes, to keep you safe and supported," he said on Twitter.

He then launched into a rundown of what's available, starting with the Canada Recovery Benefit for those who are self-employed or can't get EI but are directly affected by this disease; they can claim $500 weekly for up to 26 weeks.

Then he talked about the sickness benefit, the CRSB, which is for people who can't work because they are sick or isolating due to COVID-19; and there's the Canada Recovery Caregiver Benefit if you have to miss work to take care of a loved one.

Trudeau then described some of the help available for businesses, including the Canada Emergency Rent Subsidy to assist with monthly rent which has a special boost to provide even more support for businesses in lockdown.

There's also still the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy for businesses that have lost revenue to keep people on the payroll and the Canada Emergency Business Account, which provides interest-free loans of up to $60,000.

If you're still unsure about which benefits you could claim after his breakdown, the PM also added a few links with even more information about what's available and what you could be eligible for at this time.
