More than a dozen hand sanitizers were recalled by Health Canada because they may pose health risks to the public.

According to the recall list, 15 hand sanitizers were added in February for not meeting health requirements in some form or another.

There was also one added to the list in December, several in November, and more in October. No new products joined the recall list in January, however.

The products on the list were recalled for reasons including possibly containing ingredients that are not allowed by Health Canada, having the wrong labelling, missing "risk statements," or not being allowed to be sold in Canada.

Some were sold without being properly tested, others were counterfeits, and some were defective or had faulty packaging.

Health Canada says that if you come into contact with any of these products, you should stop using them and properly dispose of them by following municipal or regional guidelines.

You can also return the hand sanitizer to a pharmacy so they can dispose of it for you.

The department recommends contacting your doctor if you've used the products and have concerns about your health.
