Air Canada has revealed plans to restore flight services to several sunny vacation destinations by early May 2021, according to new reports.

This includes services to Jamaica, Mexico and Barbados, as well as Tokyo, Hong Kong and Colombia, reports the Canadian Press via CBC News.

The airline intends to operate multiple weekly flights between Toronto and Mexico City from May 3, in addition to one weekly flight between Toronto and Kingston (Jamaica) and Bridgetown (Barbados) beginning May 5 and May 9 respectively.

Air Canada also wants to restore routes between Vancouver and Tokyo as of May 1 as well as Toronto and Hong Kong from May 6. Services from Toronto to Bogota (Colombia) are set to be reinstated as of May 7.

This comes after Canadian airlines were required to stop flying to popular sun destinations in January, per the federal government’s updated travel restrictions.

This rule is set to expire on April 30, 2021, although it's not clear if it may be extended further.
