Ontario isn't just known for its stunning lakes, rolling countryside, and vibrant cities; it's also becoming a magnet for celebrity real estate.

From Hollywood actors to Grammy-winning musicians and chart-topping DJs, some of the world's biggest names are snapping up multi-million dollar homes in the province.

Whether it's a serene lakeside retreat in Muskoka, a sprawling estate near Toronto, or a sleek downtown penthouse, these properties offer privacy, luxury, and a uniquely Canadian backdrop for work, family, or relaxation.

With gorgeous panoramic views, and world-class amenities, it's no wonder celebrities are turning to Ontario for both permanent residences and exclusive getaways.

Here are nine big-name celebrities who made Ontario their home or at least their ultimate escape.

Connor McDavid — Family cottage in Muskoka

Connor McDavid may spend most of his time in Edmonton, but he and his wife, Lauren Kyle, also own a stunning lakeside cottage in Ontario's Muskoka region.

Known as one of Canada's most exclusive cottage-country destinations, Muskoka waterfront properties often sell for several million dollars. However, the exact purchase price of the Richmond Hill native's cottage hasn't been made public.

The couple has been spotted enjoying time there in the summer, and the property even hosted parts of their wedding celebration, making it both a personal getaway and a meaningful part of their life together.

Cindy Crawford — Luxe home in Muskoka

The famous American supermodel owns a luxurious mansion in the Muskoka region.

According to Hello! Magazine, Crawford and her husband, Rande Gerber, purchased the seven-acre site in 2008 and had the home built.

They typically visit the property in the summer months, as their primary residence is in Malibu.

Steven Spielberg — A retreat in cottage country

The legendary director has long been a fan of Ontario's cottage country, drawn to its serene lakes and lush landscapes.

According to Hello!, Spielberg reportedly owns a private retreat in Muskoka, where he is said to spend much of his leisure time.

The area's quiet charm and natural beauty offer a perfect escape from Hollywood's bustle, making it easy to see why a filmmaker of his stature would be drawn to the region.

Tom Hanks — A property in Muskoka

The two-time Academy Award-winner also owns a property in Ontario's Muskoka region.

According to Forbes, Hanks has a charming lakeside cottage there, offering him a tranquil escape from the spotlight and a chance to appreciate the natural beauty of one of Canada's most sought-after cottage-country destinations.

Justin Bieber — A mansion overlooking Puslinch Lake

The Stratford native spends most of his time in Los Angeles, but he also owns a sprawling estate in Ontario.

According to CTV News, the Grammy-winning artist purchased a 101-acre property in Wellington County near Cambridge, complete with an equestrian facility and a mansion of more than 9,000 square feet overlooking Puslinch Lake.

Bieber bought the estate for $5 million, which is 65 km east of his hometown.

Shawn Mendes — A condo in downtown Toronto

Raised in Pickering, the singer-songwriter has a home in downtown Toronto.

According to the Toronto Sun, Mendes purchased a three-bedroom, two-bathroom, 1,144-square-foot penthouse condo in July 2017 for $1.75 million.

The residence boasts an impressive 750 square feet of outdoor terrace space, providing sweeping views of the city skyline, including the CN Tower, making it a perfect urban retreat.

Drake — A mansion in the Bridle Path

Toronto rapper Drake infamously owns a gigantic mansion in the Bridle Path.

According to CBC News, the lot, which had a bungalow, was purchased in September 2015 for $6.7 million by a numbered company based in Halifax. The company listed Drake's DJ and close friend Adel Nur, also known as Future The Prince, as its president.

'The Embassy' is valued at around $100 million.

According to a Architectural Digest interview in 2020, he enlisted the services of architectural and interior designer Ferris Rafauli to build the mega-mansion.

Measuring approximately 50,000 square feet, the home features a full-size basketball court within its premises.

Deadmau5 — A home in Campbellville

Famous DJ and music producer Deadmau5 recently purchased a $5 million mansion in Campbellville, near Milton, Ontario.

According to the Vancouver Sun, he relocated there from his previous $2.5 million Toronto property to create a self-sustaining music studio.

Elton John — A futuristic penthouse in King Toronto

The British singer-songwriter has longtime had a connection to the province of Ontario. John's husband, David Furnish, is a native of Toronto.

There were long-standing rumours that he owned properties in Caledon and Stouffville.

However, in 2023, it was revealed that The Rocket Man bought a penthouse in the futuristic development on King Street, Toronto. It will be in the upcoming King Toronto development.

These are just a few of the high-profile celebrities who have invested in Ontario real estate. With its mix of natural beauty, vibrant cities, and exclusive privacy, the province will remain a go-to destination for luxury homes and celebrity retreats for years to come.
