Deja Vu: Results For The Georgia Senate Runoff Election Could Take Days

Wait.... haven't we seen this one before?

The highly-anticipated Georgia Senate elections are underway, and it looks like the country could see a repeat of the November presidential elections.

It is not yet known when voting results will come in, but the threat of a days-long wait is very real once again.

9 Days Time it took to count Georgia's votes for President

The New York Times reports the Georgia State Election Board has taken numerous precautions to help count votes faster and more efficiently.

Some precautions include keeping drop boxes in place for absentee ballots and requiring all counties to begin scanning and processing early ballots at least a week before the actual election, but they cannot be counted until polls are closed.

Another factor that could contribute to a days-long wait for results is Military and overseas votes, which will be counted as long as they are postmarked by Tuesday and received by Friday.

The race is expected to be very close and some believe the lead could shift numerous times as votes continue to be counted, making it more difficult to predict a winner.

So it seems all Americans can do now is simply wait until polls close at 7 p.m. EST and keep the TV on as votes are counted in what will undoubtedly turn out to be a historic election.
