A 38-year-old woman has died after she fell a significant distance off a cliff on Saturday, at Grampians National Park in Australia.

According to reports, Rosy Loomba was hiking near Boroka Lookout in Australia's Victoria state, when she attempted to take a photo on a precarious cliff edge.

80 metres The height of the cliff

The popular photo-spot has an overhang beside an 80-metre cliff edge, which has panoramic views of the mountains, per CTV News.

The woman had been walking with her husband and child when the accident occurred.

Local police say the 38-year-old climbed over safety barriers and warning signs, before posing for a photo.

However, Loomba accidentally tripped and fell more than 80 metres down the cliff’s edge.

CTV News reports that witnesses were able to hear the woman screaming, but were unable to offer any assistance.

It took emergency services six hours to scale the rock face to retrieve her body.

The platform from which she fell was shut down to Grampians National Park hikers throughout the afternoon, before reopening to the public at 10 p.m. local time.
