Is this how people felt when the American remake of The Office came out? The Brooklyn Nine-Nine Quebec version has caused quite a stir online and even the cast of the original series has shared their opinions on the adaptation. That included questions about the new show’s whitewashing of the Latina characters.

On September 17, a new show that's an adaptation of Brooklyn Nine-Nine is premiering on Club illico, a service that streams French-language movies and series.

It's called Escouade 99 and the trailer for it was shared on social media on August 19. The video circulated online to the point where many cast members of the original series saw it and actually commented on it.

Melissa Fumero, who plays Amy Santiago, responded to the trailer for the new show and said watching it is "like peeking through another dimension."

In another tweet, she then went on to mention the whitewashing of her character and Rosa Diaz, another Latina character on the show.

"After watching this... I'm suddenly curious about the Latina population in Quebec. Just sayin," Fumero said.

Co-star Stephanie Beatriz, who plays Rosa, responded to that tweet with a lot of 🥴 emojis.

She has previously spoken about how she never thought that a TV network would cast two Latinas in the same show in main roles.

Fumero and Beatriz weren’t the only cast members to share their opinions.

Joel McKinnon Miller, who plays Norm Scully, responded to Fumero’s tweet about the trailer quite simply with a single 😳 emoji.

Someone else tweeted that they actually had to watch the trailer twice to figure out who is Charles Boyle and called it fascinating.

The actor who plays Charles, Joe LoTruglio, responded and said "'FASCINATING". Yeah that’s one word for it."

In Escouade 99's version, the character is an older man.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine's official social media pages haven't commented on the Quebec remake.

Based on the trailer, it seems to be an exact replica of the American show with lots of the same scenes with the same dialogue.

This adaptation of Brooklyn Nine-Nine was announced last year and started filming in the summer.
