Mark your calendar for July 18 and get ready to raid your pantry — because free flame-grilled chicken is on the menu and it’s for a good cause.

Nando’s is giving away a free ¼ chicken and PERi Fries, and all you have to do is raid your pantry for 67 seconds and show up with a non-perishable food donation. That’s it. Just a small act of kindness that’ll get you a full plate of delicious Nando's.

Nando's Pantry Raid is a one-day event, taking place on Friday, July 18 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at all Nando’s locations in Alberta, B.C. and Ontario in honour of Nelson Mandela Day — a global celebration of giving back, inspired by the 67 years Mandela spent fighting for equality.

Instead of asking for hours of volunteering or big donations, Nando’s is keeping things simple: one food item and one delicious reward.

As a company with a proud South African heritage, Nando's mission to serve their restaurants' communities is deeply inspired by Nelson Mandela. Every year, his birthday, also known as Nelson Mandela Day, is celebrated around the world by doing good in communities. Nando's takes part by offering up a delicious plate of chicken and fries for your generosity of a non-perishable food item donation, it’s a win-win.

What should you bring to your local Nando's? Think shelf-stable essentials like canned beans, pasta, rice, or peanut butter — just make sure items are unopened and not past their expiry date. Your donation will go directly to local food banks, helping to combat food insecurity in your community.

"All it takes is one small act of kindness," says Krista McLay, Director of Marketing at Nando’s PERi-PERi. "This Mandela Day, we encourage everyone to take just 67 seconds to do something good — and leave with a full heart and a full plate."
