NAV Canada is hiring air traffic controllers, and the annual salary goes up to $201,000 with these high-paying jobs.

You don't need any experience or a college or university degree to get the position!

NAV Canada, the organization that helps guide aircraft through Canadian-controlled airspace, just opened a job posting for air traffic controllers.

Air traffic controllers are responsible for coordinating the safe, efficient and orderly flow of air traffic in Canada's seven flight information regions.

Positions are located at NAV CANADA sites across the country, including control towers at airports.

There are two types of controllers: IFR Controllers (Area Controllers) and VFR Controllers (Tower Controllers).

Area Controllers work at Area Control Centres and are responsible for air traffic in a large portion of Canadian airspace.

The control centres are located in Vancouver, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Toronto, Montreal, Moncton, and Gander.

Tower Controllers work at Canadian airports with a direct view of aircraft and use radio communication to issue instructions and clearances.

There are 42 airports in Canada where Tower Controllers work, including Vancouver, Victoria, Calgary, Edmonton, Regina, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Halifax, and St. John's.

Area Controllers must complete a training program that lasts 20 to 27 months.

It has three phases — initial training, specialty training and on-the-job training — that include classroom and simulator portions.

During training, Area Controllers make $56,899 to $59,550. The salary ranges from $139,333 to $201,407 per year after training.

Tower Controllers are required to complete training that lasts 12 to 27 months.

It has two phases: initial training (which includes classroom and simulator portions) and on-the-job training.

During training, the salary is $56,899 to $59,550. Then, the salary for Tower Controllers increases to between $101,221 and $201,407 per year after training.

NAV Canada noted that qualified controllers get a premium of $5,290 to $51,318 per year!

You don't need to have any specialized training or previous experience to get hired.

That's because NAV Canada provides all of the training required to become an air traffic controller in this country.

Training for Area Controllers and Tower Controllers happens at the Area Control Centres in Vancouver, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Toronto, Montreal, Moncton and Gander.

Even though no degree or experience is needed, there are still a few requirements that you have to meet for these positions.

If you want to apply for an air traffic controller job, you must be 18 years of age or older and a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.

You also need to have a high school diploma or its equivalent.

Verbal communication skills, memorization skills, problem-solving and decision-making abilities, teamwork skills, and multi-tasking skills are required as well.

The ability to communicate in English is required for positions in all seven of NAV Canada's flight information regions.

But for air traffic controller jobs in the Montreal region, you must be bilingual and able to communicate in both English and French.

It's required that you pass a medical check, a security check, and drug testing before you start training.

You must be able to start training after the recruitment and selection process, which includes online and in-person assessments, language testing, and interviews.

Since NAV Canada operates out of locations across the country, you need to be willing to relocate to any of the NAV Canada locations where controllers work.
