Community centres will also reopen some of their facilities, including lounges, computer labs, and washrooms, under strict safety guidelines.

The City states that the new move will allow more people to find cooling spots during the heatwave.

"Although, the centres will look different once they open, they will continue to provide the same services and amenities that residents have come to enjoy," John Tory stated.

However, gymnasiums, fitness areas and saunas will all remained closed for the time being.
