Contributor

The Sunshine State offers tons of amazing campsites to pitch your tent at. From deep forest canopies to vast fields of stars, the sights are endlessly gorgeous. But imagine falling asleep to the sound of gently lapping waves with the Milky Way stretched out above you. One Florida camping spot on the beach will give you just such an experience, where you can set up your tent right on the shore.

The Canaveral National Seashore allows beach bums to stay overnight and camp right on the sand. There are 14 different backcountry island campsites to choose from, perfect to get away from the crowds.

The sites include both natural island and spoil island camping, and you can reach them by using your own kayak or boat. Campsite reservations are $20 per night and if you don’t have your canoe, you can rent one for $25.

The designated camping islands stretch throughout the Intracoastal Waterway and Mosquito Lagoon, giving you a secluded and private view of the seashore.

The island campsites are the ultimate return to nature, and you’ll roughing the traditional way with no electrical hookups or restrooms.

If you’d rather not go too far off the grid, one camping site at Apollo Beach does feature showers and a restroom.

All of the sites feature a fire pit and picnic table, so you can stay cozy at night under the stars.

These primitive beach campsites are perfect for those looking to get away from civilization for a while and give you some truly magical views to boot.
