Lead Writer, Travel

You'll get more than just fall views when visiting this trail. You can check out this new scary attraction from October 14 to the 2nd week of November, and you'll want to wear your fastest running shoes. You'll feel like you're in a horror movie at Ontario's haunted escape trail

The spookiest season is here and Ontario has no shortage of places to get scared at.

This new attraction puts a twist on typical escape rooms.

Escape Maze is an outdoor adventure area in Peterborough where you must complete challenges and puzzles along the way in order to finish the game.

Usually, the venue hosts a creepy escape room each Halloween called The Shaft.

Due to COVID-19, the attraction is hosting a new, outdoor haunted escape adventure instead.

Escape Maze informed Narcity that this year, a terrifying, zombie-themed escape trail is taking place entirely outdoors.

The 45-minute experience is a mix between an escape room and a haunted house, so guests can get the full scare experience while safely distancing.

The story is about a farmer who accidentally turned himself into a zombie while experimenting with chemicals for his crops.

It's up to you and your team to venture into the contaminated area and recover the cure for the farmer.

As you journey along the trail, you'll have to stop at several sheltered stations and complete challenges to finish the spine-chilling game.

The haunted trail is running from mid-October to the second week of November.

The cost to play is $25 per person.

The venue does not recommend this experience for the faint of heart or children under 13.

If you consider yourself a bit of a chicken, the attraction is planning a daytime trail for people who don't want a big scare factor.

Details are still being finalized at the time of publication, so stay tuned on the website to find out more and book a ticket.*
