The Intense Final Season Of Netflix's 'Ozark' Is Coming & It'll Be Longer Than Ever

The Byrde family is back! Recently it was announced that Ozark season four will be the show's final season on Netflix. Luckily for fans of the hit series, the upcoming episodes will be jam-packed with all the drama you've been craving.

Back in March, the streamer released the show's third season, where the family's money-laundering business took an even darker turn after Wendy's unstable brother arrived on their doorstep.

Season three brought plenty of tragic character deaths but was still well-received by audiences, scoring a very impressive 97% critic score and a 92% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

The past three seasons of the Netflix original have all consisted of 10 episodes, but according to Variety, the fourth and final season will be made up of 14 episodes released in two separate parts.

“We’re so happy Netflix recognized the importance of giving Ozark more time to end the Byrdes’ saga right," showrunner Chris Mundy told the site.

“It’s been such a great adventure for all of us — both on screen and off — so we’re thrilled to get the chance to bring it home in the most fulfilling way possible.”

From the sounds of things, fans can expect more of the same intense drama in season four.

Variety reports that Mundy will return as showrunner, writer, and executive producer, with star Jason Bateman also acting as a creative force.

Lisa Emery, Charlie Tahan, Skylar Gaertner, Sofia Hublitz, Julia Garner, and Laura Linney are all set to return alongside Bateman as well.

“A super sized season means super sized problems for the Byrdes. I’m excited to end with a bang(s),” Bateman told Variety.

An official plotline for the upcoming season has yet to be revealed to fans, but Express speculates that we'll see the Byrde family working closer than ever with the Navarro cartel.

"It seems likely the pair will get even more sucked into the world of crime when it returns," the site reads.

It's unclear exactly when Ozark season four will begin production or be released on the streamer, but updates are sure to come in the next few months.

"They're going out with a bang. Ozark will conclude with an expanded 14-episode final season," a recent post on the show's Instagram page reads.
