Ryan Reynolds Shouts Out Hospital Workers In London, Ontario ‘For All You’re Doing’
He's the gift that keeps on giving! After months of charitable donations and surprise appearances to Canadian organizations and hospitals, Ryan Reynolds added a shout out to healthcare heroes in London, Ontario to his long list of contributions. He even included some lighthearted clips from his movie, Deadpool.
The Vancouver-born actor made an appearance in a video posted on June 12 by EmergencyLondon.
In the 11-minute-long clip, the "EMLondon team talks COVID-19 and tries to put a smile on your face during these trying times."
Reynolds contributed his segment from the safety of his home where he's social distancing with wife Blake Lively, their three daughters, and his mother-in-law.
"You know every patient walking into a hospital is looking for the same thing: they're looking to feel better. And the sacrifices that you guys at London Health Sciences Centre make each and every day is exactly that, you're making people better," the 43-year-old begins.
Reynolds harboured his iconic and well-loved sense of humour by adding that for a long time, we typically only recognized heroes as those who were "incredibly gorgeous sex gods wrapped in saran wrap and red and black spandex."
A clip from the actor's 2016 movie Deadpool was inserted into this video, to which he sarcastically replied, "Oh. How'd that get in there?"
"It didn't take long for us to realize that the real heroes, although slightly more attractive, they wear scrubs, they wear stethoscopes, and occasionally Crocs," Reynolds added, as another clip from the film follows where he sports a navy blue pair of the famous shoes.
"Right. I guess we all use our Crocs for different reasons — the point is I love you guys, please stay safe and thank you from the bottom of my heart and the heart of my bottom for all you're doing."

Reynolds was born and raised in Vancouver, but recently opened up about briefly spending time living Ottawa after he and Lively donated to Ottawa Food Banks. He claims he lived in The Vanier Towers when he was around 13 years old.
The actor's charitable side continued when he donated $4,000 to Edmonton Food Bank to help them reach their goal and sent $5,000 to the family of a Nova Scotia attack victim.
Reynolds and Lively also recently donated a generous $200,000 To NAACP in honour of George Floyd.
In March, they sent a whopping $1 million to Food Banks Canada and Feeding America to help those in need during the COVID-19 pandemic.
