A picture of a "sale" price on a product at Shoppers Drug Mart is making the rounds on Reddit and has people questioning both the regular price and the discounted price of the item.

On Sunday, March 17, a user uploaded a snap of Kotex tampons to the Reddit forum r/loblawsisoutofcontrol.

While the forum is primarily devoted to Loblaws, Shoppers Drug Mart is in fact owned under the Loblaw banner along with No Frills, Provigo, and Real Atlantic Superstore among others.

"Shopper’s 'sale' prices on tampons are still 4$ more than Walmart’s," said the caption of the picture.

At Walmart Canada, for the same box of 45 U by Kotex Click Compact Tampons, the regular price is currently $12.98 while the sale price is $10.88.

That means that Shoppers' regular price for the product at $17.49 is $4.51 more expensive than Walmart's regular price, and their sale price of $14.79 is $3.91 more expensive than Walmart's sale price.

In the comments, many people sounded off saying that Walmart is indeed almost always cheaper than Shoppers, but some pointed out that it's not always possible to make it to the big box retailer.

"Everyone saying 'just go to Walmart' is not a woman who has had an emergency and needs to buy a period product NOWS," said one commenter.

Narcity recently did some digging into the prices between Walmart Canada and Shoppers Drug Mart for products that you might need to buy right away, like medications and baby formula, and in some cases, you may be paying up to $17 for the exact same thing when shopping at the Loblaw-owned store.
