According to The Weather Network, snowfall is expected to begin in central Alberta on Thursday. "This will be the perfect storm track to leave the heaviest snow along the Yellowhead Highway," TWN stated.
In Edmonton, snow is set to begin early Thursday and will likely reach Winnipeg by the evening. Communities stretching from central Alberta to southern Manitoba should prepare for snowy conditions. "There is also a threat for blowing snow across the highways as winds pick up," TWN added.
In Alberta, the snowfall is expected to taper off by Friday morning.
Environment Canada has issued multiple snowfall warnings for the province, including for Edmonton. The advisory states that some areas could receive up to 30 cm of snow by Friday morning.
"Snow will intensify this morning and continue to be heavy at times through the evening. Periods of lighter snow will continue through Friday," the warning states.
