It's in! U.S. News & World Report has released its best universities in the U.S. ranking for 2022 and it's not surprising to see who took the top spot.

For the 37th year running, the report has ranked some of America's biggest and best post-secondary institutions, considering over 1,000 colleges and universities that grant baccalaureate degrees.

To calculate the report, factors like graduation and retention rates, social mobility, faculty resources, student excellence and more were considered.

For the eleventh consecutive year, Princeton University topped the national university list, followed by Columbia University, Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, which all tied in second place.

Rounding off the top five in the country were Yale and Stanford, as well as the University of Chicago.

While the overall top 20 have shuffled around a little in position over the last year, the universities in the top half of the ranking have not changed since 2021.
