'The Umbrella Academy' Season 2 First Look Shows The Hargreeve's Travelling Back In Time
They’re alive and well! After an apocalypse took place in season one, fans feared that the Hargreeve family could be done for. However, a first look at The Umbrella Academy season two was recently revealed, and it shows the clan in Dallas, Texas.
After failing to prevent a massive disaster, the Netflix original’s first edition ended with the seven siblings being blinked out of existence with the help of Number Five’s handy ability to transport people through time and space.
In a 2019 interview with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Steve Blackman remained secretive about the sibling’s whereabouts, saying, "If we get a second season, we'll see where they end up.”
Luckily, the series was renewed back in April of 2019 and began filming in Toronto shortly after. The second season was expected to hit the streamer sometime in 2021, but because production wrapped early, we’ll be seeing it much sooner than anticipated.
Last month, Netflix surprised subscribers with a date announcement for season two, and ever since fans have been anxiously awaiting the trailer.
A video clip has yet to be released, but the streamer did provide us with a first look at the upcoming episodes.
As it turns out, the Hargreeve’s have travelled back in time to the 1960s in Dallas, Texas.
Viewers learned in season one that Number Five doesn’t have the best handle on his powers, so when transporting his siblings, he somehow managed to separate them, causing each to arrive in the city at a slightly different point in time.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Five’s arrival finds him facing yet another apocalypse, so he makes it his mission to reunite his siblings in hopes of preventing the disaster.
Some new faces will be introduced to the cast in this season of The Umbrella Academy including Marin Ireland (Sneaky Pete), Ritu Arya (Feel Good), and Yusuf Gatewood (The Originals).
The original cast is all set to return.
"The Umbrella Academy must find a way to reunite, figure out what caused doomsday, put a stop to it, and return to the present timeline to stop that other apocalypse,” a synopsis on Lad Bible reads.
"All while being hunted by a trio of ruthless Swedish assassins. But seriously, no pressure or anything."
The Umbrella Academy season two will hit Netflix on Friday, July 31. Keep your eyes peeled for the trailer!
