A “large” wedding that took place last weekend has resulted in at least 11 new cases of COVID-19. The series of celebrations, which took place across four locations, have led to a health notice from York Region Public Health.

In a release, the local health agency confirmed that multiple people who now have COVID-19 were in attendance at the four events, which occurred across Toronto, Markham, and Whitchurch-Stouffville between August 28 and August 29.

Those who attended the wedding celebrations are now being asked to monitor for symptoms, “as they may have been exposed to the infection.”

The exact location of the events include Rexdale Singh Sabha Religious Centre and Lakshmi Narayamandir Temple, both located in Toronto.

The health agency is currently following-up known contacts, and is directing them to self-isolate for 14 days.
