Another Terrifying Fire Hit The GTHA On Sunday & Devastated Richmond Hill (VIDEOS)

Two devastating house fires have hit the GTHA in the space of a day. Fire crews responded to a large Richmond Hill fire that broke out in a heavily-populated neighbourhood in York Region on Sunday afternoon, July 26. Images shared on social media show multiple houses were totally burnt out. 

According to CTV, the blaze was so massive that it took 55 firefighters on scene at Weldrick Road East, east of Yonge Street, in Richmond Hill yesterday.

The cause and origin of the blaze, which was captured terrifyingly by residents and shared on social media, is still unknown.

There are no known injuries at this time, and investigators are still on scene.

They reportedly had to rotate duties so none became dehydrated as there is currently a heat warning in place for thr area.

This is the second devastating inferno in the GTHA in two days, and in what was an unwelcomely busy day for fire services.

The first was another residential fire that ravaged 11 townhouses in Hamilton on Monday morning.

York’s emergency services are working alongside Red Cross to provide support to those displaced by the fire north of Toronto.

“We're currently trying to track down all the residents of those units, finding out what their needs are going to be. They won't be able to go back into the building itself for quite a number of days," Richmond Hill Deputy Fire Chief Bryan Burbidge told CTV.

Burbidge added that the fire spread rapidly through numerous housing units, per the Toronto Star. 

Ontario's Assistant Deputy Fire Marshal Steven Wilson showed the aftermath of the tragedy on his Twitter account, sharing a picture of numerous burnt-out properties.

And the fire itself was caught on camera, too.

Resident Conor Duffy documented his house as it burned, noting that it was the second time he experienced a damaging house fire in the space of one year.

Another Twitter user caught the flames in action, with black smoke billowing out of the top of a residential property.

Per the Star, police and other authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire.
