The fatal accident on Highway 401 happened in the morning, in the eastbound express lanes near Markham Road.

OPP say that a pickup truck with a trailer was driving westbound when a trailer wheel became detached.

The wheel crossed over into the path of the driver and he passed away as a result of his injuries.

Eastbound express lanes remain closed between Warden Avenue and McCowan Road.

Officers have located the pickup truck. However, they are still looking for witnesses.
