The public health unit is warning residents and visitors of a "cluster" of COVID-19 cases in Muskoka that were reported after a group visited the area on August 2.  

According to Dr. Charles Gardner, the Medical Officer of Health for the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit, 11 cases were reported after the group of 30 non-locals visited the area.

We're in an investigation in Muskoka right now in regards to a cluster of cases that had attended a resort and a restaurant.

The group visited both the Deerhurst Resort and 3 Guys restaurant while on their trip. 

"None of them had symptoms at the time,” Gardner said. “Individuals among them developed symptoms after when they went home out of region and sought testing, with results coming back being positive for 11 of those individuals.”

A contact-tracing investigation is still underway to determine who was potentially exposed and which individuals will need to go into self-isolation.
