Over 60 Schools In Toronto Have Reported COVID-19 Cases From Staff & Students

Public schools are recording a rising number of COVID-19 cases at the TDSB.

According to the school board's COVID-19 advisory page, 73 individuals at 63 schools have contracted the disease as of September 30.

The detailed numbers show that 47 students have become ill, along with 26 teachers so far.

Now, face shields might become required as an alternative for those who are exempt from wearing masks, according to Global News. 

So far, Mason Road Junior Public School has been the only institution in the TDSB that has closed due to an outbreak

The first positive case that was confirmed in a student was recorded on September 17 at York Memorial Collegiate Institute.

Since then, the numbers have been climbing fast despite more students opting for remote learning.

Last week, 26 kindergarteners at Swansea Junior and Senior Public School were put into isolation after possibly being exposed to COVID-19, but the school remains open
