Doug Ford Was Called A 'Piece Of S***' In Parliament By An NDP MPP

There was some juicy drama in the Ontario Legislature on June 24. As Premier Doug Ford spoke during Wednesday's session, New Democratic Party MPP Taras Natyshak reportedly called him a "piece of s***." This apparently happened as words were being exchanged over the Windsor-Essex lockdown.

The topic of Ontario's reopening came up in the Legislature on Wednesday, and Ford and Natyshak apparently didn't see eye-to-eye.

You can say that again.

As Toronto Star's Robert Benzie reported, Natyshak took exception to something Ford said and wasn't shy in making his disagreement known.

"No MPP gets under Premier Doug Ford’s skin more than the NDP’s ⁦@TarasNatyshak. Ford is furious Natyshak just called him 'a piece of shit.'" wrote Benzie.

Benzie added that the comment was subsequently withdrawn.

In a clip shared on Twitter by CTV's Colin D'Mello, the comment itself cannot be clearly heard. However, numerous audible gasps were clear as day in apparent response to the reported outburst.

According to D'Mello, the NDP has confirmed the term was used.

"That's the first time I've ever heard anything like this in the house here, honestly it is," responds Ford in the video.

Ford's spokesperson Ivana Yelich tweeted in response that it was a "shameful display of parliamentary behaviour."

Narcity reached out to Ford, Natyshak, and Ontario NDP leader Andrea Horwath for comment.

In a statement, Natyshak accused Ford of "dividing" the Windsor-Essex region.*

At his daily briefing later on Wednesday, Ford said he forgives Natyshak and that the exchange is "water off a duck's back." However, he noted he had not heard language like that before in the Legislature.

Natyshak represents Essex, which, as part of Windsor-Essex, is the only remaining region of Ontario yet to be allowed to enter stage two of the province's reopening plan.

This isn't the first time he has had issues in the house before.

According to CBC, Natyshak was actually ejected from Queen's Park back in March 2018.

That happened after he held up a sample of water with black sediment, demanding that the acting Minister of Environment and Climate change at the time take a drink. 

Meanwhile, Ford announced in his Wednesday briefing that most of Windsor-Essex can enter stage two tomorrow, Thursday, June 24.
