Travel is expected to be difficult due to accumulating snow and possible freezing rain. Motorists and pedestrians are urged to exercise caution. Environment Canada

A whopping 14 regions in southern Ontario could receive a combination of snow and freezing rain today.

Areas such as York, Waterloo and Halton are all under warning.

Slippery roads, reduced visibility and heavy accumulation are all on the table at the moment.

Motorists and pedestrians are being urged to "exercise caution."

The Weather Network reported earlier this week that southern Ontario's New Year's forecast would be equally as messy.

A second wave of rain and ice is forecast to sweep across the province by Friday.

So, we might be looking at a gloomy start to 2021, at least in terms of weather.
