Southern Ontario Is Going To Be Hit By A Snowy & Icy Mess This New Year

2021 is going to start off messy.

As if COVID-19 wasn't enough to cancel your New Year plans, Mother Nature is stepping up to make sure we stay in.

According to the Weather Network, southern Ontario's New Year's forecast will be a messy combo of snow and freezing rain.

You might want to pull out your raincoat and a shovel because a storm is expected to hit the province on Wednesday and linger into Thursday.

According to TWN, it will bring snow to the north and rain to the south.

Areas near Owen Sound can be expected to see around 10 centimetres of the white stuff at the beginning of the week.

However, bad weather won't end there. A second bout of rain and ice is also forecast to trek into the province by Friday.

So, Ontarians will wake up to a rather gloomy first day of 2021 in terms of weather.

While there is a possibility of freezing rain on New Year's Day, weather experts have noted there is still a chance that we could avoid some of the nasty weather.

"Models will vary and there are a couple of scenarios that could play out. It is too early to discuss impacts and track," TWN added.
