Lunar New Year is right around the corner, which means Toronto restaurants are preparing to celebrate the Year of the Dragon with all their festive decor and festive menus.

What better way to celebrate the start of a new year than by checking out one of Toronto's fanciest cafes for a festive afternoon tea?

Lunar New Year is on February 10, but this afternoon special is on for much longer than that.

Holts Cafe in Holt Renfrew Toronto is having a Lunar New Year inspired afternoon tea and it is so adorable ❤️ #lunarnewyear #lunarnewyearfood #afternoontea #afternoonteatoronto #holtscafe #holtrenfrew #holtrenfrewtoronto #lunarnewyear2024 #lunarnewyeartoronto #torontoafternoontea #torontobrunch #torontorestaurants

Holts Cafe in Toronto and Vancouver is hosting a Lunar New Year-inspired afternoon tea, and the spread is not something you want to miss out on.

I checked out the event over the weekend and it was so delicious I could go back for more dumplings any day.

Holts Cafe's Lunar New Year-inspired brunch starts on January 27 and ends on March 3, every Thursday to Sunday at all working hours in Toronto. In Vancouver, you can enjoy the afternoon tea between 2:00 till close on Monday to Thursday and all day Friday to Sunday.

However, it's worth noting that the menus in Toronto and Vancouver differ.

I checked out Bloor Street West's Holt Renfrew in Toronto. If you didn't know, on the second floor at the back of the Holt Renfrew in Toronto, where the luxurious shoes are, there is a super cute and Insta-worthy cafe that overlooks a busy Yorkville street. The decor is pretty and the vibes are summery all year round, so if you're looking for a secret brunch restaurant in Toronto, here it is.

You'll start by choosing your freshly steeped tea out of nine options. I ordered their Signature Black tea with a side of warm milk.

During this season's festive afternoon tea Chef Malcolm Webster's offerings include shrimp dumplings, crab wontons, pork bao, cucumber tea sandwiches (with matcha shokupan bread), buttermilk and matcha scones and four freshly baked goods.

The treats include sesame ball, mandarin orange choux, matcha tiramisu, and good fortune macaron.

If you have any allergies, Holts Cafe is happy to accommodate you. In fact, I don't eat pork, so they made me a crispy chicken bao, and it might be one of my favourite dishes on the menu.
