Lunar New Year is right around the corner, and many Toronto restaurants are gearing up to celebrate the Year of the Dragon. With special menus, festivities and more, parts of the city will be decorated in red this February.

On February 10, Lunar New Year is celebrated in many places around the world and, similar to the Western culture New Year, it symbolizes letting go of the past and bringing in the present.

With that in mind, here are six Toronto restaurants making the Lunar New Year special this year with many delicious bites and celebratory experiences.

Hong Shing

The famous Chinese restaurant in Toronto is ringing in the new year with two different events: the Lunar New Year Chef Tasting Menu and the Lunar New Year Three Dragon's Dinner.

The Lunar New Year Chef Tasting Menu takes place from February 1 to 15 and costs $128 per person, with a minimum of four people per table.

Chef Eva Chin and Chef Wallace Wong are collaborating to bring the Lunar New Year Three Dragon's Dinner together. It's a 6-course Cantonese-inspired menu with Baijiu pairings available for one night. The event takes place on February 22 and costs $218 per person.

Kiin and The Soy Luck Club

For one night only, Chef Nuit Regular and Chef Eva Chin are teaming up to bring together an exclusive Lunar New Year dinner.

On February 12, Kiin and The Soy Luck Club are putting together a 6-course dinner that brings together Thai and Chinese cuisines.

Tickets are $168 per person, including a welcome cocktail, canapés and a 6-course dinner. The experience starts at 6:00 p.m. and a portion of the proceeds from the dinner will be donated to support a Chinese village in Pai, Thailand.

Hidden inside Holt Refew on Bloor Street West lies a cute and Instagram-worthy cafe that serves brunch on the weekends and delicious meals otherwise, but every Thursday to Sunday from January 27 to March 3, they have a Lunar New Year afternoon tea.

For $78 per person, you can enjoy three tiers of delicious foods like matcha scones and dumplings with tea to ring in the new year.

Sunnys Chinese

The Bib Gourmand Michelin Chinese restaurant, hidden between alleyways at the back of a grocery store in Kensington Market, is celebrating Lunar New Year from February 8 to 12.

After dining at the restaurant, you can go home with a special gift. They are giving out HK French Toast chocolate bars made just for the occasion by David H. Chow.

Lee Restaurant

Even though this famous Chinese restaurant isn't offering anything special for the Lunar New Year, they have a menu filled with delicious foods that would be a great way to celebrate.

You can even enjoy their Signature Singapore Style Slaw — which has 24 ingredients and a salted plum dressing — or indulge in traditional foods like dumplings, gyozas, Pad Thai, and so much more.

House Of Gourmet

This staple Toronto Chinese restaurant is known for its seafood, duck and other noodles, and it would be a great addition to any Lunar New Year celebration.

This might be a great option if you feel like eating at a Toronto restaurant but want to have the foods you love at home.

Happy Lunar New Year, Torontonians!
