More students are set to return to Ontario schools on Monday.
In-person start date for four health units.
Eastern Ontario Health Unit, Middlesex-London Health Unit, Southwestern Public Health Unit and Ottawa Public Health will be welcoming back 280,000 students into elementary and secondary schools.
With some other school boards already open, this will bring the number of students learning in class up to 520,000.
Stephen Lecce, Minister of Education, states that Ontario schools will also be introducing stronger safety measures.
“We are building on our plan by introducing stronger masking protocols to include grades 1-3, expanding access to targeted asymptomatic testing, and implementing stricter screening protocols,” stated Leece.
Earlier this month, the government announced that some school boards will be closed until mid-February as COVID-19 cases continue to climb.
Students in Windsor, Peel, Toronto, York, and Hamilton's public health regions, will continue to learn online until February 10.
