TTC Jobs Are Available In Toronto & You Can Earn More Than $40 An Hour

If you're looking for work, the Toronto Transit Commission — more commonly known as the TTC — is hiring for so many positions in the city right now.
These TTC jobs pay close to or more than $40 an hour and some even offer bonus pay for skilled trade workers!
Not only are these high-paying jobs but the positions also don't require a university degree.
Here are six TTC jobs that Toronto's transit agency is hiring for now.
General Maintenance Carpenter
Salary: $42.35 an hour, plus $1.25 skilled trade premium for all regular hours worked
Who Should Apply: You can apply if you have a valid certificate of qualification as a general carpenter or general carpenter red seal.
Also, having an Ontario G driver's licence, and a set of tools is required.
If you get hired, you'll be required to complete the TTC's training programs for truck driving and pass the written and practical tests required for a class D driver's licence, subway/SRT rule nook and WHMIS certification.
General Painter
Salary: $40.33 an hour, plus a $1.25 per hour skilled trade premium for all regular hours worked
Who Should Apply: You need up to 3.5 years of experience which includes one year as a Painter's Improver to become proficient in all aspects of the work.
Also, you must have a valid class G Ontario driver's licence and a certificate of qualification as a commercial and residential painter and decorator issued by the Ontario Ministry of Skills Development.
If you get hired, you need to pass tests set by the Operations Training Centre for the operation of TTC vehicles and forklifts.
Revenue Equipment Attendant
Salary: $30.79 to $39.99 an hour
Who Should Apply: You should apply if you have training obtained through the completion of a grade 12 technical program, including trade subjects in machine shop practice.
Also, you must have completed community college-level courses approved by the TTC in electrical theory, programmable logic controllers, and MIG and TIG welding.
To get hired, you need a valid Ontario G driver's licence and to pass a physical assessment (including the ability to lift and carry objects while walking and climbing stairs).
Sheet Metal Worker
Salary: $43.45 an hour, plus a $1.25 per hour skilled trades premium for all regular hours worked
Who Should Apply: This position requires a valid certificate of qualification as a sheet metal worker and an Ontario class G driver's licence.
You must also be medically fit to use a respirator and have a set of tools.
If you get hired, you'll have to attain a valid Gas Technician 3 certificate.
Coach Technician
Salary: $43.76 an hour, plus a skilled trade premium of $1.25 for all regular hours worked
Who Should Apply: You need a valid Province of Ontario Truck & Coach Technician Certificate obtained through the completion of a grade 12 technical program and the successful completion of the apprenticeship training program.
Also, a valid class G Ontario driver's licence and a set of hand tools is required.
Apprentice Radio Technician
Salary: $28.39 to $41.49
Who Should Apply: This position requires you to have training obtained through the completion of a community college graduation diploma in the field of electronics.
Also, you must pass the Plant Maintenance Department’s communications test, complete the course for CPR, WHMIS, and subway/SRT rule book training, and obtain a valid Canadian Fire Alarm Association certificate.
You need to have a valid class G Ontario driver's licence as well.
