Trudeau Sent Joe Biden A Bunch Of Montreal Smoked Meat Sandwiches & ...
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and President Joe Biden are taking their bromance up a notch.
In a tweet on July 30, the Canadian leader tweeted his American counterpart admitting that "a bet's a bet" and promising that a package of Montreal smoked meat sandwiches are heading Biden's way.
Alright, I’ve had some time to recover from the heartbreaking #StanleyCupFinal. @POTUS, a bet’s a bet. A package of Montreal smoked meat sandwiches is heading your way – enjoy! And congratulations to the @NHL champs, the @TBLightning.— Justin Trudeau (@Justin Trudeau) 1627662452
If you're wondering why one world leader would be sending a sandwich to another across international borders, it's all to do with the NHL.
Back in June, Trudeau and Biden agreed to a "friendly wager" when it became clear an American team and a Canadian team would be facing off in the Stanley Cup final.
The Tampa Bay Lightning beat out the Montreal Canadiens for the title, which is why the Canadian PM is sending sandwiches.
Trudeau joked that he'd "had some time to recover" from the heartbreaking loss and went on to share well-wishes with the winning team. Aww.
