Canada's best fine dining spots were put to the test and this Vancouver Island restaurant, located in a small coastal town, is under the spotlight.

Set in the rugged beauty of Ucluelet, the restaurant came in third place on The Travellers’ Choice Awards, for fine dining in Canada.

Among the list are white tablecloth spots, perfect for celebrating a special occasion or a destination for foodies.

"The Travellers’ Choice Awards Best of the Best title celebrates the highest level of excellence in travel. It’s awarded to those who receive a high volume of above-and-beyond reviews and opinions from the Tripadvisor community over a 12-month period. Out of our 8 million listings, fewer than 1% achieve this milestone," the ranking said.

The exclusive list included fine dining spots from all around Canada, including Orso Trattoria in Jasper, AG Inspired Cuisine in Niagara Falls, and Pluvio restaurant on Vancouver Island.

"Pluvio Restaurant impresses with its innovative dishes and local sourcing. You're in for a treat with their memorable tasting menu and beautifully presented plates," the ranking said.

"Don't miss the impressive cocktails that pair perfectly with the unique flavours. The open kitchen adds a personal touch, and the warm atmosphere ensures you feel right at home," it added.

With 755 reviews on Trip Advisor the Ucluelet restaurant has maintained a 5-star rating.

With an emphasis on local products and highlighting the natural wonder of the area, the menu at Pluvio is uniquely mouthwatering.

You'll get to enjoy foraged food from the thick forests and rocky coastline here, and sip of BC craft ciders and beers while you're at it. The intimacy of the small restaurant makes the experience that much better, and you can peek into the open kitchen or look out while on the patio, to see the beautiful surroundings.

A visit here is asking for a weekend getaway because there are also boutique hotel rooms where you can stay — making it all the more worthwhile ot make the journey to this scenic small town.
