If you're one of the many inspired by B.C.'s ASL rockstar during the COVID-19 pandemic, then you'll be super excited to know that Nigel Howard is teaching a class at UBC.

Starting Tuesday, September 8, you can take ASL 100 or ASL 101 with the famed sign language interpreter himself.

Nigel Howard

Known for his expressive gestures and stunning good looks, Howard has attracted so many fans for his work interpreting for the provincial government during the pandemic — he's even got his own Facebook fan page.

He's no stranger to the classroom either — Howard has taught LING 447 at UBC since 2018 and taught at Douglas College for more than 20 years.

For Howard, one main goal of the new course is to challenge stigmas and preconceived notions of what it's like to be deaf — and who wouldn't want to take a class from a local celebrity?
