A fall weather forecast for BC and Alberta dropped and 'shots of colder weather' are coming
Fall is here, and a new weather forecast for B.C. and Alberta breaks down what to expect for the season ahead, and when the colder weather will blow in.
It's going to be a mixed bag for parts of Western Canada, with rainy days and cold shots ahead for some areas.
The Weather Network (TWN) has released its 2025 fall forecast for the country, and Canada as a whole is predicted to have "fewer than the typical number of fall storms" and "periods of pleasant weather."
That means much of the country will be able to get outside and enjoy the fall colours for the beginning of Autumn, before things take an "abrupt" turn in November. The forecast also breaks down what to expect in B.C. and Alberta, though, and it's not all good weather and pretty foliage.
In B.C., the season should start out with warm and dry weather that will last through September, but that also could mean an increased risk for wildfires. But as fall sets in, TWN predicts that "temperatures will trend back to near seasonal for much of October and November."
That means the start of the typical rainy season for the province, with the coast expected to have fall storms during October.
The south coast of the province should brace for above normal precipitation totals and a risk of "excessive rain at times."
For Alberta, the season should also start out reasonably warm, with above-normal temperatures through October. Don't get too comfortable, though, because TWN said that "shots of colder weather" will interrupt the warmth.
All in all, the forecast calls for "extended periods of pleasant weather" for the season, before things flip toward the end. Things may switch for November with a "much colder and more active pattern developing."
This could lead to what's set to be a "strong start to winter" for the region – to soak up the nice fall temperatures while you can.
