A new B.C. weather forecast has dropped, and the summer heat is set to come to a rainy end in classic fall fashion. People can expect gloomy days ahead, and even some snow.

While the weather has stayed toasty warm in many places around the province, now fall weather is actually set to kick in. The Weather Network (TWN) forecast is predicting a "pattern shift across the province just in time to greet the chilly season."

Of course, that means rain for B.C., with an atmospheric river set to reach B.C.'s central coastline by Saturday. This may bring over 100 mm of rainfall around Bella Bella and Prince Rupert.

While the South Coast is looking a bit drier, it will still get some rain. Widespread showers and cool temperatures are expected to hit the South Coast and lower mainland, bringing the freezing level down to around 2,000 metres.

This means there could be some "early-season alpine snow" in the coastal mountains and Rockies, according to TWN.

The month should round out with a "parade of systems" on the B.C. coastline, with fall precipitation.

In a longer-range forecast, TWN said that B.C.'s fall should have near-seasonal temperatures in October and November, with fall storms along the south coast expected in October. The precipitation totals may be above normal, and there's a risk of "excessive rain at times" for the season ahead.

So get out those rain boots and put away your summer wardrobe — rainy season is here.
